Duquesne MBB Selected Ninth At A-10 Media Day
The Duquesne Men’s Basketball Team was selected to place ninth in the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll as voted upon by the conference’s 14 head coaches and one media member per team.
Additionally, no players received recognition on a preseason all-conference or defensive team. Each sports information director in conjunction with the head coaches selected players eligible to be voted for.
For all-conference teams newcomers Jimmie Williams and John Hugley were up for consideration, while both Cam Crawford in addition to Jakub Necas had opportunities to be voted for all-defensive.
While no Duquesne players received enough points to make a team, former Duke Tre Dinkins III make the Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
The Dukes were elected eighth a season ago and went 13-19 overall and 8-10 in conference play.
Both VCU and Saint Louis each received 11 first place votes out of a possible 27, but the Rams earned one more point to finish first in the preseason poll. Dayton placed third, receiving three first-place votes in the process, while George Washington was fourth.
Loyola Chicago is in the fifth position, receiving the other two first-place votes. The rest of the poll in order reads George Mason, Saint Joseph’s, St. Bonaventure, Duquesne, Richmond, Davidson, Rhode Island, La Salle and Fordham.
