The Duquesne Women’s Basketball Team got its season started on the right footing with an 89-60 win over Saint Francis Monday afternoon at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

Duquesne (1-0) had career highs from each of its top-three producers. Sophomore Nadia Moore led the way with her 17 points, while Dunja Zecevic recorded 16 points in her first game as a Duke. Gabby Grantham-Medley had her first ever double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. All 11 players scored and grabbed a rebound for the Dukes.

The hosts had a 51-rebound afternoon, winning the category by 15, recorded 43 bench points and 56 paint points. Duquesne also forced 30 turnovers throughout the course of the game.

Aleah James paced Saint Francis (0-1) with her 17 points, while teammates Sonia Sato and Makyiah Ward chipped in with 13 and 11 points respectively.

As promised, Burt planned to bring five players in and out every couple of minutes or so and that was on full display in this contest through the opening three quarters. All 11 players saw the court before the first quarter media timeout.

More to come later with an Inside the Dukes article but in the meantime, here is postgame with Duquesne’s Grantham-Medley, Moore and head coach Dan Burt.
