The Pitt Panthers once again have short in recruiting a blue-chip athlete from Imani Christian Academy as 2027 4-star CB Gabriel Jenkins commits to Penn State.

Jenkins becomes the fourth commitment for Penn State in their Class of 2027.

Jenkins a On3/Rivals 4-star recruit held offers from Pitt, West Virginia, Michigan State, Central Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Syracuse, Nebraska, SMU, Indiana, Baylor and North Carolina.

In selecting Penn State, Jenkins told Ryan Snyder of Blue White Illustrated, “I committed because I love Penn State. They’ve been one of my top schools since I was young, and now both of my teammates are committed there. Who wouldn’t want to keep playing with them?”

Jenkins will be joining former teammates 2025 4-star linebacker Dayshaun Burnett and 2026 commit David Davis.

Jenkins tells Snyder that currently he’s being recruited as a safety but would like to eventually transition to linebacker or possibly running back.

Of Penn State’s four 2027 commitments, three are from the WPIAL- McKeesport 5-star running back Kemon Spell and Pine-Richland 4-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor.
