Penn State Loses Pine-Richland 4-Star Commit Khalil Taylor

It’s been a couple weeks to forget for the Penn State football program.
Following losses to both Oregon and then winless UCLA, something very rare happened to the Nittany Lions program. A WPIAL recruit announced that they were opening up their recruitment
Pine-Richland 2027 4-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor announced that he was de-committing and would be looking at other programs. Taylor is a Top 30 overall player in the Class of 2027 and had been committed to the Nittany Lions since March.
A WPIAL player de-committing from Penn State is something very rare, especially considering one that had made over a dozen visits to campus.
Just one month ago, Franklin and assistant head coach Terry Smith made the trip to Pine-Richland High School to talk with Taylor.
Taylor’s commitment to Penn State didn’t slow down his recruitment as he continued to receive offers, the two most recent from Florida State and Notre Dame.
That in fact was a major reason for his decision as he wants the chance to visit other teams and doesn’t want to do so while being committed to Penn State.
Taylor tells Rivals Recruiting Insider Hayes Fawcett that he has upcoming trips planned to Syracuse, Ohio State and Oregon.
Taylor also told Fawcett that he hasn’t completely ruled out Penn State and wants to keep all his options open.
Another WPIAL Penn State 2027 commitment made news on Thursday. McKeesport 5-star running back Kemon Spell received an offer from Kirby Smart and Georgia and announced he’d make an unofficial visit to Athens.
