Pitt and WPIAL Football Recruiting Notes

The first full weekend of college football meant college teams hosting recruits on unofficial gameday visits.
The Pitt Panthers took on Duquesne and it wasn’t a very busy weekend in terms of uncommitted players traveling to Pittsburgh. However, they did host a couple of highly rated commits in 2026 4-star running back Damon Ferguson along with 2027 4-star running back Tyler Reid.
Here’s a look at some other Pitt recruiting news along with players from around the WPIAL that made visits to Power 4 programs.
*Pitt extended an offer to 2027 4-star TE Jordan Karhoff from St, Francis De Sales HS in Columbus, Ohio. Karhoff (6’4″, 215-pounds) received the offer from Jacob Bronowski and Ryan Manalac. Along with Pitt, Karhoff holds offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Iowa State, Michigan State, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Duke, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Auburn, Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue, Louisville, Washington, West Virginia, Georgia, Illinois, Ole Miss and Rutgers.
*Pitt extended an offer to 2027 tight end Jackson Ballinger from Centersburg, Ohio. Ballinger received the news from TE coach Jacob Bronowski. Along with Pitt, he holds offers from Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Duke, Maryland, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Missouri, Washington and Wisconsin.
*Central Catholic 2027 4-star offensive tackle Jimmy Kalis took his first visit of the 2025 season as he traveled to Columbus, Ohio for the big matchup between Texas and Ohio State. Programs from around the country will be trying to get Kalis on campus for Game Day visits throughout this season. Kalis is rated by On3sports/Rivals as one of the Top 200 overall players in the Class of 2027.

*Kalis wasn’t the only elite recruit taking in the Ohio State/Texas matchup. So too was McKeesport 2027 5-star running back Kemon Spell. The interesting thing is that Spell is currently committed to Penn State.
*PSN also wants to take a look at some former WPIAL standouts who had nice performances on Saturday. Former Central Catholic 4-star and Michigan linebacker Cole Sullivan had a nice day against New Mexico. Sullivan finished the day with 5 tackles, an interception and a sack.
*Former Mt. Lebanon standouts Eli Heidenreich and Alex Tecza had nice days for Navy against VMI. Heidenreich had 6 catches for 65 yards and a TD, along with 70 yards rushing and a TD. Tecza registered 89 yards rushing and a TD along with 10 yards receiving.
