Pitt Baseball Receives Commitment from Local Standout

For the second time in the last couple of months, the Pitt baseball program has gotten a commitment from a WPIAL standout.
Moon High School 2027 shortstop Will Swisher has announced his commitment to HC Mike Bell and the Pitt Panthers. Prior to that, Norwin 2026 RHP Caden Sivrich also committed to Pitt.
Sivrich (5’11”, 182-pounds) is the No. 2 ranked shortstop and the No. 7 overall player in Pennsylvania per Prep Baseball Pennsylvania.
“I’m extremely blessed and excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh,” said Swisher. “I want to thank God, my family, coaches, teammates, and friends who have supported me every step of the way. I’m grateful for all the opportunities this game has given me. I would also like to thank Coach Bell, Coach Bonfield, and the entire staff at Pitt for this opportunity. H2P!”

These two commitments along with some recent additions in their Class of 2025 are a major change in Pitt’s recruiting targets. For whatever the reason, recruiting WPIAL players, either through high school or the portal, isn’t something the Pitt program has focused on.
In their recently announced Class of 2025, Pitt baseball added LHP Ryan Apaliski, formerly of Hampton High School and Gulf Coast State College along with RHP David Leslie from Butler High School and Grove City College.
