The initial player availability report for Pitt-Syracuse has been released, per the ACC’s new policy two nights prior to game day.

Pitt has nine players listed as questionable, including five starters: running back Desmond Reid, defensive end Blaine Spires, safety Cruce Brookins, tight end Justin Holmes and left tackle Jeff Persi.

Reid returned against Florida State after missing two weeks with an ankle injury, but is still listed as questionable heading into Syracuse. Meanwhile, Spires, who was also out against Boston College, Brookins and Persi all missed last Saturday’s matchup. Holmes is a new addition to the injury list.

In addition, backup cornerback Rashan Murray, backup defensive end Joey Zelinksy, long snapper Nilay Upadhyayula and backup left guard Jackson Brown are also questionable.

As of now, there are no surprises on the out portion of the report. Defensive end Zach Crothers and left guard Keith Gouveia suffered previously announced season-ending injuries. Defensive lineman Denim Cook and defensive end Jaeden Moore, who have not been declared out for the year, are once again out as the duo have yet to play a game this season.
