Pitt K Trey Butkowski Looks to Return vs. Miami; Gameday Injury Report
PITTSBURGH — Pitt true freshman kicker Trey Butkowski looks to make his return against Miami after missing two games with an illness.
According to the ACC gameday availability report, starting defensive tackle is the lone game-time decision for Pitt.
Running back Desmond Reid, defensive tackle Francis Brewu, left guard Ryan Carretta and Butkowski were all listed as questionable on Friday, but are no longer on the report, indicating that they will be available against Miami.
Butkowski has missed two games in a row as he’s been dealing with an “illness.” The true freshman has been excellent for the Panthers hitting 19-of-21 fields goals with a long of 47. He broke the Pitt record of 16 consecutive makes. He is also 40-of-41 on PATs.
Pete Thamel of ESPN reported earlier Saturday morning that Reid will make his return against Miami after missing last week’s game against Georgia Tech. He was limited in practice this week, so it is unclear what his workload will look like against the Hurricanes.
Reid has missed four total games this season with injury and was limited in a handful of others. He has totaled 278 rushing yards with two touchdowns, along with 317 receiving yards and two scores.
Brewu was banged up a few times in the Georgia Tech win. The sophomore has registered 32 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
Carretta was a game-time decision against Georgia Tech last week. While dressed, Carretta did not play a snap as Kendall Stanley started at left guard. He was helped off the field in the fourth quarter against Notre Dame. Carretta has started six games this season at left guard.
FitzSimmons has missed the last two weeks with injury. The redshirt junior has started all nine games he was available for, recording 20 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack.
