At long last, Australian prospect Roman Siulepa has committed to and enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh.

Siulepa – a 6-foot-6 forward from Australia – committed to Pitt on Thursday night, Jonathan Givony of ESPN first reported. It’s the end of a long saga that has left Pitt fans hanging on the ends of their seats.

Siulepa agreed to part ways with the Hungry Jack’s of the NBL, paving the way for his commitment to college basketball.

“We wish Roman all the best as he embarks on this next chapter of his basketball journey, and look forward to supporting him throughout his career moving forward,” Next Stars Recruitment GM Liam Santamaria said in a release

Siulepa earned second-team All-Tournament honors at the FIBA U-19 World Cup, after averaging 18.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He helped the Emus to a sixth-place finish.

He shot 41.6% from the field and 64.9% from the free throw line (improving as the tournament went on), and while he showed flashes of explosive dominance, he also showed he has a long way to go developmentally.

He’s a superstar athlete who could have gone pro in rugby but has now turned his attention to basketball. When he puts his head down and drives to the basket, he’s hard to stop. The appeal is obvious. But he has a lot to work on outside of that. Still, he’s one of the top Australian prospects in recent years and an electric pickup for Jeff Capel and staff.

Pitt needed to fill out its roster before the 2025-26 season, and Siulepa adds a very intriguing piece at the 4 spot. While he isn’t going to fill the void on the outside, his potential is through the roof.

Pitt picked up Iowa State guard Nojus Indrusaitis, Oregon State guard Damarco Minor, South Alabama wing Barry Dunning Jr. and Iowa State center Dishon Jackson out of the transfer portal this offseason, rebuilding a roster hit by the portal and graduation.

And Pitt was active in the high school ranks in the class of 2025, landing guards Omari Witherspoon and Macari Moore – also adding foreign recruits Henry Lau and Kieran Mullen.
