PITTSBURGH — Pitt football will be without its star running back as it opens ACC play against Louisville Saturday at Acrisure Stadium.

Desmond Reid was ruled out for the Louisville matchup, per the game day ACC availability report.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound senior was limited to just the first quarter against West Virginia two weeks ago before being sidelined with an undisclosed injury. He rushed six times for 30 yards in the loss.

It’s a tough break for the Panthers as Reid, a 2024 All-Purpose All-American, is one of the most explosive and dynamic players on offense. He has 142 rushing yards on the year with a touchdown, along with 71 receiving yards and a punt returned for a touchdown.

The last time Reid missed a contest, Pitt compiled just 23 yards on the ground against Boston College in the 2024 regular-season finale. Goff had 11 carries for 15 yards that gave him an average of 1.4 yards per carry.

Two weeks ago against West Virginia, Pitt totaled 46 yards on 34 attempts – a 1.4 average per carry.

Cornerback Rashan Murray was also listed as out for the Pitt-Louisville game, and starting cornerberack Tamon Lynum is a game-time decision.

Tight end Jake Overman and cornerback Rashad Battle missed the West Virginia game with an injury, but were not on the availability report, which indicates that they will dress. Wide receiver Censere Lee, who has yet to play this season, looks to also dress against the Cardinals.

For Louisville, star running back Isaac Brown is listed as a game-time decsion, along with linebacker Antonio Watts, defensive lineman Wesley Bailey, running back Duke Watson and defensive lineman Rene Konga.

Louisville linebacker Stanquan Clark, defensive back Rodney Johnson, quarterback Travis Egan, running back Keyjuan Brown, running back Jamarice Wilder and running back Shammai Gates are all out.
