Pitt Suffers Two Significant Secondary Injuries Ahead of Brawl

Pitt football will be without its two starting cornerbacks against West Virginia Saturday in the Backyard Brawl.
Rashad Battle and Tamon Lynum were both not dressed for warmups ahead of the West Virginia matchup.
Battle, a sixth-year senior, is sporting a cast on his left hand. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder was injured in the season opener against Duquesne and missed the Central Michigan matchup.
Lynum, also a sixth-year senior, started against Central Michigan, but exited the game early and finished with just 10 snaps played.
Redshirt sophomore Shadarian Harrison and true freshman Shawn Lee Jr. are the projected starters at cornerback for Pitt against West Virginia.
Last week, Harrison played 68 snaps and registered nine tackles. Lee played 54 snaps and came up with three tackles. Lee was the first true freshmen to come off the bench against Duquesne in the season opener.
Battle became a first-time starter in 2024 and totaled 36 tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery and eight pass breakups.
Lynum started three games last season with 36 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, an interception and seven pass breakups.
