Pitt to Host Another Big Volleyball Tournament

For the second consecutive year, the Pitt volleyball team will open its season playing in a huge national tournament.

Today it was announced that Pitt along with 3 other programs will participate in The Opening Spike Classic, which will open the 2026 volleyball season.

Pitt along with Kansas, Stanford and Wisconsin will battle in this national event that will be held at the Peterson Events Center on August 28th and 30th.

Pitt will open up against Kansas on August 28th and then Wisconsin on August 30th. Pitt won’t square off against Stanford in this event but will later in ACC conference play.

How talented is this field that will be competing in this event? All four of these programs are still alive in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament as Sweet 16 action begins tomorrow. Pitt is a No. 1 seed, Stanford No. 2 seed, Wisconsin No. 3 seed and Kansas a No. 4 seed.

This season, Pitt challenged themselves by participating in the season opening First Serve Showcase, which included Nebraska, Florida, TCU and Arizona State.

The Opening Spike Classic will be televised on ESPN.
