For the second consecutive week, the Pitt Panthers will have to play without two key contributors.

The ACC injury report was released Friday night and Pitt listed both K Trey Butkowski and DT Sean FitzSimmons as out for the Georgia Tech game.

Both players were surprisingly out last Saturday vs. Notre Dame and their absence will continue this weekend.

The situation with Butkowski is eye raising considering he’s missing due to illness. Because it’s an injury/illness, it’s something that HC Pat Narduzzi will comment on.

Sam Carpenter will replace Butkowski and be in charge of Pitt’s field goal attempts and kickoff duties.

The loss of FitzSimmons is big for Pitt’s run defense an area he’s been solid in all season. Considering Georgia Tech’s ability to run the ball, this is a big loss for Pitt.
