On the heels of getting upset on Saturday by Ohio University, the West Virginia football team is receiving more bad news that will impact the rest of their season.

HC Rich Rodriguez’s depth at running back will be test as starter Jahiem White will reportedly miss the rest of the 2025 season after suffering a knee injury late in the 2nd quarter. White was carted off the field after being pulled down by a combination of a horse collar tackle and a face mask.

Following the game, Rodriguez said “it didn’t look good from the sideline” when asked about the health of White and unfortunately that’s the case.

Prior to the injury, White had 6 rushes for 40 yards and a touchdown. In WVU’s opener against Robert Morris, White rushed for 18 carries, 93 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Last season, the junior from York, Pennsylvania rushed 149 times for 845 yards and 7 touchdowns, while also catching 19 passes for 122 yards and a TD. In 2023, White collected 842 yards on 109 carries and scored 4 TD’s.

It goes without saying that this is a major loss for the Mountaineers.

In the second half, Clay Ash replaced White as he received 4 carries for 2 yards and caught 4 passes for 20 yards. Ash (5’9″,190-pounds) is a sophomore from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
