Quinten Joyner named to the Doak Walker Award watch list

Texas Tech running back Quinten Joyner has been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list, which is presented to the nation’s top running back. Joyner joined the Red Raiders this past spring after transferring from USC.
Joyner was the Trojans’ second-leading rusher in 2024 and produced the fourth-most all-purpose yards by a Trojan during his redshirt freshman season. He combined for 603 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 81 carries in his first two seasons at USC.
Manor High School to Texas Tech
Joyner attended Manor High School, the same school that Texas Tech’s all-time leading rusher, Tahj Brooks, attended. Brooks was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list for the last two seasons and was a semi-finalist for the award for both seasons.
About the Doak Walker Award
The award was created in 1989 to be presented to the top running back in the country. Named after 1948 Heisman Trophy winner and three-time All-American selection Doak Walker from SMU, it honors not only an outstanding player on the field, but someone who also excels in the classroom and the community.
Ten semifinalists will be named in November, and the three finalists. It will be voted on by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee, consisting of former NFL All-Pro and college All-American running backs, media members, and selected special representatives. The winner will be announced on the Home Depot College Football Awards.
