UConn Basketball lands Top 20 prospect Colben Landrew

Consensus four-star Colben Landrew, Rivals’ No. 1 ranked player in the state of Georgia, has committed to Dan Hurley and the UConn men’s basketball program, he announced Wednesday via social media.
The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Landrew is currently ranked 17th overall in Rivals’ 2026 class and is slotted as the No. 4 shooting guard in the country. He joins Junior County, a 6-foot-4 pure point guard from Utah who committed to Connecticut on Oct. 2, in the Huskies’ 2026 recruiting class.
Landrew narrowed his list of school to six last week. Mississippi, Mississippi State, Purdue, Texas A&M, Louisville and Connecticut made the cut, with sources telling On3 that the latter two of the six were the frontrunners.
Landrew ultimately went with Connecticut over its former Big East rival.
“Our relationship is pretty good,” Landrew told On3 insider Joe Tipton last week. “Coach Hurley and Coach Kimani (Young), I mean I pretty much talk to the whole staff.”
Hurley and the staff hosted Landrew for a visit three days after County committed, possibly providing the momentum required for the program to secure the commitment of the Wheeler (GA) guard.
A 6-foot-6, 220-pound frame will give Landrew the positional flexibility that Hurley covets in the backcourt. He’s more of a rebounder than he is a ball handler, however, and could see time at the two and three with the Huskies.
“Coach (Dan) Hurley, he’s like a crazy coach. He pushes his team hard and he’s locked in with his team everyday,” Landrew told Tipton. “He does not let his team down, so that’s big time as well. And they’re a winning program. They like that I can pretty much do anything, and I can play in a system.”
Landrew slots into a crowded backcourt room. Solo Ball, Braylon Mullins, Jaylin Stewart and Jacob Ross could all return for 2026-27 and give Landrew an uphill battle for playing time.
