History:

Similar to the Xavier Musketeers, Connecticut owns an undefeated 25-0 record versus the Blue Demons, dating back to the 2005-2006 campaign. The last time the two programs met was in January 2025, when UConn handed DePaul an 84-58 loss on the road.

Azzi Fudd led the way with 17 points, four boards and five assists. Within 25 minutes, the senior banked two of five (40%) field goals and splashed four of seven (57.1%) shots from deep.

Behind her, Sarah Strong trailed with 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists. The sophomore played 23 minutes and buried four of nine (44.4%) shots from within the paint and drained one of three (33.3%) tries from downtown.

As for the Blue Demons, Jorie Allen and Taylor Johnson-Matthews collectively scored 38 of the team’s 58 points. By the end of the day, Allen and Johnson-Matthews were the only teammates who contributed five-plus points.

Scouting the Blue Demons:

With Allen still recovering from a season-ending ankle injury last year and Johnson-Matthews transferring to the Clemson Tigers, new players will need to step up.

Watching out for Alayna West is a must. In the squad’s 85-54 fall to the Marquette Golden Eagles on Thursday, West dropped 17 points after subbing in, but also turned the ball over six times. The guard knocked down four of five (80%) buckets from within the arc and sniped one of three (33.3%) shots from long range.

One thing to note is that the redshirt freshman attacks the rim, as she exploited six of eight (75%) free throws against the Eagles. If the Wisconsin native stays hot, this could become a competitive first-quarter match.

Scouting the Huskies:

When it comes to accumulating double-digit points, the squad has many options to rely on. Most notably, Allie Ziebell has become a key off-the-bench player for UConn’s rotation. In the past three meetings, the guard almost posted consecutive double-digit points but fell short after registering eight points while facing the South Florida Bulls.

Alongside Ziebell, Blanca Quiñonez can put up 10-plus points on any given day, as she’s become more consistent in the offense. The Ecuadorian native is coming off a 13-point game versus Xavier, shooting three for four (75%) from three and two for four (50%) from the field.

With that being said, DePaul looks for its first Big East Conference victory, while the Huskies plan on staying undefeated.
