Scouting the Utes:

In Utah’s loss to Syracuse, the squad struggled to score from all ranges. So far in the 2025-2026 season, 49 points is the fewest points the team has collectively dropped.

By the end of the match, only two players finished with double-digit scores. Within 33 minutes, Maty Wilke topped the team with 18 points, three rebounds and one assist.

From within the paint, the guard drained three of six (50%) two-pointers and nailed four of eight (50%) tries from deep. From long range, Wilke made four of Utah’s five shots.

As for the bench, there was hardly any production as they contributed only four points.

In total, the Utes buried just five of 22 (22.7%) shots from beyond the arc and knocked down 14 of 30 (46.7%) field goals.

With that being said, if Connecticut can contain Wilke, UConn should come out on top with a comfortable lead.

When it comes to handling the ball, the Orange forced 21 turnovers that resulted in 16 points.

Scouting the Huskies:

On Friday, Connecticut met its match as Michigan nearly pulled an upset after owning a 20-point deficit. The Wolverines slowed the pace of the game down and played zone coverage, which allowed them to close the gap.

Similar to Utah, the bench could not help secure the win for UConn, as they posted five points. This forced the Huskies’ star players, Azzi Fudd, Sarah Strong and KK Arnold, to stay on the court for 35-plus minutes. This is something Head Coach Geno Auriemma did not enjoy about the program’s overall performance.

Seeing the off-the-bench teammates bounce back and accumulate more points should come as no surprise. Through the reigning champion’s first five matchups, this was the first time the bench failed to provide depth in the rotation.

As Utah looks to break its two-game losing streak, Connecticut plans on staying undefeated. Fans can tune into the clash on FS1, with tip-off scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
