Junior County, the consensus top recruit in the state of Utah, has committed to Dan Hurley and the UConn Basketball program, sources tell On3.

County currently ranks 35th on Rivals’ 2026 Industry big board and is a consensus four-star prospect, slotted as the No. 5 overall point guard in the class.

At 6-foot-4, 175 pounds, County brings exceptional length into a guard room that thrives off size and physicality.

The Huskies hosted County on for an official visit during the final weekend of September. It came after Hurley and his staff welcomed other top guard prospects, Dylan Mingo (No. 5 nationally) and Qayden Samuels (No. 20 nationally), in the weeks prior.

Mingo has visited Alabama, Penn State and Baylor since his visit to Storrs and has not explicitly eliminated any schools. Mingo also took a visit to Washington over the summer, according to Joe Tipton.

County is the first recruit to declare his commitment to Connecticut this cycle. He currently slots in behind Silas Demary Jr. (if he opts to use his final year of eligibility) on the Huskies’ 2026-27 depth chart.

What does this mean for other UConn targets?

Four-star wing Abdou Toure was crystal balled to Providence. He will announce his decision on Friday, Oct. 3.

Mingo has not narrowed his list of schools as of today (Oct. 1).

Samuels has received interest from a bevy of teams. He’s taken an official visit to Georgetown and an unofficial visit to NC State.
