The UConn men’s basketball team had three projected starters selected to the Preseason All-Big East First Team, one to the second team, while another was picked as the Preseason Freshman of the Year, per release.

Alex Karaban, Tarris Reed Jr. and Solo Ball were picked alongside Creighton’s Owen Freeman, Marquette’s Chase Ross and St. John’s Bryce Hopkins on the preseason first team. Johnnies’ center Zuby Ejiofor was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year.

Karaban was the lone unanimous selection, marking the second consecutive year the redshirt senior was selected to the preseason first team. It’s the first time being selected for both Ball and Reed.

Braylon Mullins, the crown jewel of Dan Hurley’s 2025 recruiting class, was picked as the Preseason Freshman of the Year. It’s the second straight season a Husky has been nominated for the honor, with Mullins joining now-Charlotte Hornet Liam McNeeley, who was selected last October.

Silas Demary Jr. was selected to the preseason second-team. The Georgia transfer joins four other transfers (Ian Jackson, Jason Edwards, Josh Dix and KJ Lewis) on the second team.
