Cornelius (N.C.) Mooresville 2026 EDGE Kamdon Gillespie has committed to West Virginia.

The three-star prospect originally committed to Virginia Tech in June, but reopened his recruitment earlier this month following the dismissal of head coach Brent Pry. That opened the door for the Mountaineers, who made him a priority and ultimately secured his pledge.

Gillespie, 6-foot-3, 245-pounds, is rated the No. 892 overall prospect and No. 85 EDGE in the Rivals Industry Ranking for the 2026 class, while also checking in as the No. 35 player in North Carolina.

He chose West Virginia over several other offers after previously considering Georgia Tech, USF, Boston College, Vanderbilt and James Madison, among others.

At Mooresville, Gillespie has been a productive defender with over 140 total tackles and 15 sacks entering his senior season, according to MaxPreps.

The commitment gives West Virginia another key piece in its 2026 recruiting class and adds a versatile pass rusher with the potential to make an early impact in Morgantown.
