2026 OL Aidan Woods commits to West Virginia

West Virginia has landed a commitment from Abingdon (Va.) 2026 offensive lineman Aidan Woods.
Woods, 6-foot-6, 280-pounds, had previously been committed to North Carolina but announced his decision to commit to the Mountaineers on social media.
“Called home,” he tweeted.
The Mountaineers had been involved with Woods for much of the process and were the first Power Four program to extend a scholarship offer in January.
West Virginia offensive line coach Jack Bicknell, senior offensive assistant Travis Trickett and assistant offensive line coach Derek Dressler served as the lead recruiters.
“West Virginia always felt like home to me and after some recent reflection. I called Coach Bicknell and he was thrilled to hear my decision and then today I got on the phone with Coach Rodriguez and he was super excited as well to hear about my commitment,” he said.
He also held offers from Syracuse, Wake Forest, Liberty, Old Dominion and a number of others.
Woods has experience at tight end but is being recruited as an offensive tackle by the Mountaineers.
“The plan is for me to come in and play tackle and use my athleticism with my roots at tight end I’ve got some experience on the edge,” he said.
Woods already took his official visit in May but will return for the Texas Tech game. The plan is for him to graduate in December in order to begin his college career.
West Virginia is now up to 29 commitments.
