Memphis (Tn.) Whitehaven 2026 running back Christopher Talley knew on his official visit that West Virginia had what he wanted in a college program.

So, he decided there was no reason to wait and made the decision to commit to the football program.

Talley, 6-foot-0, 170-pounds, called running backs coach Larry Porter Tuesday night to give him the news that he was committing to the program and there was excitement on both ends of the phone.

“He was fired up,” he said.

West Virginia offered an offense that fit his skill set along with a history of success at the position under head coach Rich Rodriguez.

“I know that Coach Rodriguez has run the ball a lot and had a lot of 1,000-yard rushers at every school he’s been at,” he said. “And I love the spread offense and with my speed I could get into open space.”

Talley is coming off a junior campaign where he accounted for over 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The Rivals three-star prospect didn’t announce his decision until Friday but was excited to have the process behind him and was thankful for every opportunity that he had to sort through.

Talley also held offers from Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Memphis, Tulsa, Liberty, Connecticut, Southern Mississippi, and more.

His final three were West Virginia, Georgia Tech and Cincinnati and he visited each.

Talley plans to enroll in January to start his college career.

“I’m looking forward to coming in, getting to work and bringing a ring to West Virginia,” Talley said. “Let’s go Mountaineers!”
