The West Virginia football program has added another option in the backfield with a commitment from Collierville (Tn.) 2026 running back Lawrence Autry.

Autry, 5-foot-11, 210-pounds, had previously been committed to Tulane since June 21 but took an official visit to Morgantown during the final weekend before signing day. It was on that trip that Autry received a scholarship offer from the Mountaineers and was the catalyst for his flip.

“I loved what I was seeing and the environment as far as where it’s at,” he said.

Running backs coach Larry Porter served as the lead recruiter for Autry and the Mountaineers made a move in his recruitment down the stretch and was able to secure his pledge.

Along with Tulane, Autry also held scholarship offers from UNLV, Arkansas State, Southern Mississippi, Georgia State, South Alabama and others.

Autry rushed for 1,354 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior and had another score receiving while this past season he had 1,296 yards and 26 touchdowns while averaging 7.2 per carry. He was named the Region Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts this past campaign.

Autry joins several other running backs in the 2026 class and brings the commitment total to 37.

WVSports.com will have more with Autry in the near future.
