Big 12 to launch availability reports for football, basketball

The Big 12 will begin issuing public availability reports for all football conference games this season, sources told On3 College Football Insider Brett McMurphy. Athletic directors voted Wednesday to require the reports in football, men’s, and women’s basketball league games.
Football teams will provide daily reports starting three days before kickoff, with a final update 90 minutes before the game. Players will be listed as “available, probable, questionable, doubtful, or out.” Basketball programs will list “available, game-time decision, or out.”
The Big 12 joins the ACC, Big Ten, and SEC in adopting a system similar to the NFL’s injury reports. The Big Ten began in 2023, the SEC in 2024, and the ACC will start this season. Conference officials say the policy aims to protect student-athletes and the integrity of competition by reducing outside pressure to obtain participation information.
All updates will be posted on the Big 12’s website.
