By the numbers: WVU’s perfect record against FCS opponents
When West Virginia opens its 2025 season against Robert Morris, history is on the Mountaineers side. WVU has never lost to a program at the FCS level, carrying a spotless record into Saturday’s game.
22-0 all-time
The Mountaineers are 22-0 against FCS competition, a streak that stretches across five decades. The run began with a 43-10 win over Richmond in 1982 and has continued through 22 consecutive victories. The average margin in those games is 35 points.
Recent dominance
These games haven’t been close in recent years. Since 2020, WVU has beaten Eastern Kentucky 56-10, Long Island 66-0, Towson 65-7, Duquesne 56-17, and Albany 49-14. The average margin of victory in those contests sits at 48.8 points.
Consistent production
The offense has piled up points in nearly every one of these matchups. WVU has scored at least 40 in 16 of its 22 FCS games, topped 50 on 10 occasions, and hit the 60-point mark two times. The defense has done its part as well, holding opponents to single digits in seven games.

Saturday marks the first-ever meeting with Robert Morris. For West Virginia, it’s a chance to extend its perfect run against FCS opponents and set the tone for Rich Rodriguez’s return season.
