West Virginia and Pitt have a rich history on the football field.

West Virginia will host their biggest rival Saturday with Pittsburgh coming to town for the 108th edition of the Backyard Brawl. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. inside Milan Puskar Stadium.

A Glimpse Through the Years

The West Virginia vs. Pittsburgh series began on October 26, 1895, when the Mountaineers won 8-0. Since then, the teams have met 107 times, with the most recent matchup taking place Sept. 14, 2024, a 38-34 Pittsburgh win after West Virginia blew a 10-point fourth quarter lead.

West Virginia has won 41 times against the Panthers, while Pittsburgh has come away with 63 victories.

The Mountaineers enter the 2025 game having lost the previous matchup. Their longest win streak is 5 games, running from 1992 to 1996. Pitt’s longest win streak is 15 games from 1929 to 1946. In the modern era, the longest win streak for the Panthers came from 1976-1982, a stretch of seven games.
