Herbstreit says College GameDay needs to return to Morgantown, he's fully on board with Rich Rodriguez

Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit were in full West Virginia football mode on The Pat McAfee Show today. Herbstreit left no doubt that he wants College GameDay back in Morgantown and that he’s officially bought into the Rich Rodriguez era.
The discussion kicked off when McAfee brought up WVU’s new commitment, SirPaul Cheeks. That gave Herbstreit a chance to make a strong case for Rodriguez’s recruiting and the program’s new energy. Herbstreit said, “All I could tell you is if Rich Rod recruited him, he’s a great player. It’s a new era in Morgantown, and I am officially on the bandwagon because Rich Rod, to me, I am all, all in.”
Herbstreit went on to describe Rodriguez’s demanding approach and how it’s transforming the culture inside the program. He explained, “The way he talks, like, ‘We’re not doing that like that. We’re gonna go back to work. We’re just gonna grind.’ And these guys probably, they don’t know what hit them.”
McAfee jumped in, mentioning WVU’s significant roster turnover in the transfer portal. He said, “So there’s been a lot of action in the portal, and I don’t know if it’s been a two-way street or not, if it’s been potentially like, ‘Hey, don’t know if you’re gonna fit in with our style,’ or if the players are]saying, ‘I definitely don’t fit into this style.’”
Herbstreit didn’t hold back in describing what it’s like under Rodriguez, emphasizing how demanding and intense things have become inside the program. “The style is relentless,” he said.
They also talked about WVU’s upcoming schedule. McAfee mentioned that the Backyard Brawl against Pitt will be played in Morgantown, and Herbstreit immediately zeroed in on what that could mean for ESPN’s pregame show. Herbstreit said, “Yeah, we gotta go to that. We’ve got to get back to West Virginia.”
They rattled off other key matchups, including games against Utah and Colorado, but Herbstreit kept circling back to one big point. West Virginia, with Rich Rodriguez leading the program, deserves the national spotlight again.
