Miami (Okla.) Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 2026 safety Aaron Edwards has decommitted from West Virginia.

Edwards, 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, initially committed to the Mountaineers June 15 following an official visit to campus but announced his decision to back off that pledge Monday.

“I would like to thank the West Virginia University and the entire football staff for welcoming and supporting me in every way to their organization. At this time, I have decided to decommit from WVU. My recruitment is now open,” he said.

He has played in five games and recorded 22 tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The Mountaineers have 26 commitments in the 2026 class.
