Kwiatkoski giving back to WVU football

Nick Kwiatkoski, the former West Virginia linebacker who turned an unexpected college opportunity into a seven-year NFL career, is giving back to the place that helped shape him.
As first reported by John Antonik for WVUSports.com, Kwiatkoski has made a significant leadership gift to WVU’s football program, earning him a spot in the Summit Society, which recognizes donors who make transformational contributions to Mountaineer athletics.
“WVU had such a big impact on me as a football player and as a person,” Kwiatkoski said. “With the state of college football these days, it’s always good to give back and help them build what they’re trying to build.”
He also loves how the WVU bond extends far beyond campus. “I’ve gotten to know Pat White and some of the other former players and that’s something I love about West Virginia,” Kwiatkoski said. “I feel like among the players, past, present and future, somehow relationships are built with the guys.”
Kwiatkoski played at WVU from 2011-2015, piling up more than 300 tackles before being drafted by the Chicago Bears. He also spent time with the Raiders and Falcons, and was in the Steelers camp last year before moving on from football.
“There are things I wish would have gone differently here and there, but overall, I enjoyed my career,” he said. “It was more than I ever expected when I went to college at West Virginia.”
Though he hasn’t officially filed retirement papers, Kwiatkoski says he’s enjoying life after football and is excited to stay connected to the Mountaineer program.
