Logan Bradley excited about opportunity to work with Rich Rodriguez

Logan Bradley won’t forget when he realized that if the opportunity ever presented itself, he would take the chance to work with Rich Rodriguez.
Bradley was with Liberty at the time and the Flames were heavily favored against Louisiana-Monroe during the 2021 football season. Rodriguez was the offensive coordinator for the Warhawks and helped to lead the team to a 31-28 victory.
“We were favored by all of these points with Malik Willis, Demario Douglas and ULM beat us. We were favored by like 30-something points, and I was like man there’s something up with them,” Bradley recalled. “There was something up with them.”
After the game, Bradley spoke with assistant Ryan Garrett to dig into the upset and he explained the mindset that Rodriguez helped to instill on his teams even in his role as the coordinator.
“‘We were going to out-physical y’all, play harder than y’all. And we did.’ And I was like, y’all definitely did. And I always just wondered, like, man, what is he doing over there?” Bradley said.
The young inside wide receivers coach also recalled a time when he was at Mississippi, where he was studying a concept from Rodriguez and they tried to run it at practice but couldn’t master it.
That only intrigued his interest even further, on top of the great reviews he heard from those he was close with in the coaching business about Rodrigue
“What’s the saying if you can’t beat him, join him,” Bradley said.
The two had interacted in the past, however, Rodriguez was at Mississippi at the same time as Bradley, but only for a few days. The two also crossed paths at the Alabama High School Coaches Association in Montgomery, where Bradley heard him speak and was impressed.
“I was like, man, he’s good,” Bradley said.
Bradley has been able to work with some talented offensive coaches over his young career and each has been different but his experience with Rodriguez since arriving in the spring has been impressive. He is excited to see how Rodriguez calls a game and understands that he has to be aware at all times with how fast he operates.
“I’ve never seen anything like it so we got to get going,” he said.
But that’s not to say that working with Rodriguez hasn’t had its surprises, as he found out firsthand when he yelled at him during practice.
“He’s going to be mad at me all day, but really he’s not. It’s when he gets off that field, he leaves it there. And then we get in the meeting room, he wants to get it fixed but it’s never personal with him,” Bradley said.
He’s also realized how quickly he has found himself completely in tune with the hard edge approach.
“The standard is the standard and we don’t fold. It can be the fourth quarter, we are down by ten. The standard is the standard. We don’t fold to that circumstance, and that goes into life,” he said.
