Catcher Logan Sauve 33 at the plate as The LSU Tigers take on the West Virginia Mountaineers in game 1 of the 2025 NCAA Div 1 Super Regional Baseball Championship at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA. Saturday, June 7, 2025.

West Virginia catcher Logan Sauve was taken in the 7th round of the 2025 MLB Draft, being selected by the Athletics.

Sauve, a junior this past season, spent three seasons at WVU, playing in 151 games and starting 140 of them. While a Mountaineer, Sauve hit .284, with 20 home runs and 97 runs batted in. This past season, Sauve played in 54 games, starting 53 of them. He hit .276, with eight home runs, 12 doubles, and 36 RBIs.

Sauve was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection his freshman year, while he was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection this past season. Sauve played an integral role throughout WVU’s recent ascension, being a starter on both of WVU’s teams that made it to the Super Regionals in 2024 and 2025.

Sauve, a native of Boiling Springs, Pa., was the top catcher in the state of Pennsylvania coming out of high school by Perfect Game, majoring in general business at WVU.

Sauve joins his dad, Jeffrey, as an MLB Draft selection, as the Boston Red Sox drafted him. This is the second year in a row Sauve’s name was entered into the draft, before he withdrew his name last season, returning to West Virginia.

Sauve is the first catcher to be drafted from West Virginia since Ivan Gonzalez was taken in the 8th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
