No change on status of four eligibility waivers for West Virginia

There has been no change to the status of the four West Virginia players awaiting NCAA eligibility waivers, according to head coach Rich Rodriguez.
The four players are redshirt senior defensive end Jimmori Robinson, redshirt senior running back Tye Edwards, redshirt senior safety Justin Harrington, and redshirt senior wide receiver Jeff Weimer.
The players have not been permitted to practice while they wait out the decisions and instead must do everything on their own in the meantime. And while the coaching staff would like for them to practice during a critical fall camp, that decision is not theirs to make.
“Nothing yet. We’re still on somebody else’s timeline. It can be frustrating,” Rodriguez said.
All four of the transfers were added to the program in the winter and all but Weimer have appeared on the school’s official roster since then. None of the four were included in the school’s media guide ahead of the Big 12 Conference Media Day Event in July.
Rodriguez understands that this is out of both the coaching staff and the players’ hands, but it requires them to have a plan regardless of the outcome.
“If it’s good, I hope it’s all good and they can play. And if they can’t play does that mean we have to somehow find another guy or get somebody else ready? We can’t put our head in the sand, we have to be ready for either outcome,” Rodriguez said.
