Ohio State transfer Matthew Graveline commits to West Virginia baseball

West Virginia added another big-time transfer from the portal in Ohio State’s Matthew Graveline, who brings three years of Big Ten experience and a solid offensive track record to Morgantown.
Graveline, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior from Centerville, Ohio, ranks as the No. 94 player in the transfer portal according to 64Analytics. He started all 50 games for the Buckeyes this past season and led the team with 53 RBIs, while tying for the team lead in home runs with 10. He finished his junior year hitting .282 with 55 hits, 11 doubles and 39 runs scored, notching four games with three hits and a season-high four RBIs against Northwestern on May 10.
As a sophomore in 2024, Graveline played in 53 games, batting .281 with 56 hits, 14 doubles, five home runs and 25 RBIs. He also showcased his speed, going 13-for-16 in stolen bases. He recorded a four-hit game against West Virginia on March 17 and had a career-high two home runs and four RBIs against Arizona State earlier that season.
He broke onto the college scene as a freshman in 2023, earning Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors after batting .287 with 56 hits, eight doubles, four home runs and 35 RBIs across 50 games. He led Ohio State in runs scored that year with 45 and hit his first collegiate home run as a grand slam against Gonzaga.
A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time OSU Scholar Athlete, Graveline was a standout at Centerville High School, hitting .421 his senior year and earning Greater Western Ohio Conference First Team honors in both his junior and senior seasons.
Graveline’s addition provides the Mountaineers with a proven offensive threat behind the plate and adds depth and experience.
