Report: Nicco Marchiol out for season

West Virginia quarterback Nicco Marchiol is expected to medically redshirt, multiple sources tell On3’s Pete Nakos.
The redshirt junior started the first four games this fall, completing 66-of-98 passes for 720 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also added 57 yards and a score on the ground.
Marchiol played in 20 career games before 2025, including three starts, and had thrown for 742 yards and eight touchdowns entering this season. He helped lead the Mountaineers to wins as a starter in 2024 and made his first career start in 2023 against Texas Tech.
A former four-star recruit out of Hamilton High in Chandler, Arizona, Marchiol was named Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year and US Army All-American during his prep career.
West Virginia will now turn to its other options under center as the program moves forward in Big 12 play.
