Rich Rodriguez press conference summary post Utah

West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez addressed the media following the Utah contest and here is a summary of what was said.
–Rodriguez said disappointing. They didn’t coach well enough or play well enough. He doesn’t think anybody will lay down or quit and it’s his job to get this in a better direction on a short week. They’ll work hard to get it fixed in a hurry.
–Rodriguez felt they had played pretty consistent on defense but today they left guys wide open and gave up deep balls. They played well.
–Khalil Wilkins completed well for a young guy and competed hard. They missed a couple easy ones there but he was proud of the way he completed.
–When you get beat like that nothing makes a difference. Injuries make it more challenging but you can overcome it. You can take whatever you can positive but there’s not a whole lot for that game. They weren’t as physical in the front on both sides.
–On the first half they weren’t as physical on the offensive line but he felt they would at least have some moments but it was hard to get any momentum going. It was injury based to shift the linemen because Kimo Makane’ole was out in the second half but they wanted to get Donovan Haslam some reps. They aren’t done finding the right combination on offense.
–Defensively they blew some assignments and eye discipline was really bad. Offensively they are somewhat limited but they have to come up with a plan to have success. Special teams was disappointing too and the kickoffs he doesn’t know what’s going on there.
–West Virginia is still not even half way through the season but the things you got to make sure you’re doing is that the process is right. They have to adapt but he doesn’t need to come up with a whole new offense or defense or new practice plan. But they will play hard and get it fixed.
