West Virginia Head Coach Rich Rodriguez didn’t have any updates on the status of redshirt senior defensive lineman Jimmori Robinson but is hoping that changes soon.

“We’re hoping to hear something in the next day or two,” he said.

Robinson has been sitting out as the Mountaineers attempt to determine his eligibility status after a judge granted a temporary restraining order and immediate injunction on four players. Three of those players suited up for West Virginia this past weekend in redshirt senior wide receiver Jeff Weimer, redshirt senior safety Justin Harrington and redshirt senior running back Tye Edwards.

But Robinson was held out as officials looked for clarification on his status after it was revealed during the hearing that he didn’t meet academic progress to be eligible at his previous school.

Still, even if West Virginia does receive news on Robinson with it already being Tuesday it would likely be a longshot that he would be able to play this weekend against Ohio.

“It’d have to happen in a hurry, and we’d probably have to get an appeal to get it going before Saturday,” Rodriguez said. So that’s a long shot,” he said.

Robinson, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound transfer, was named Defensive Player of the Year in the American Athletic Conference last season after recording 43 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks. The Virginia native has played in 43 career games and would immediately step into one of the top edge rushing roles for the Mountaineers once cleared.
