Ripley's Bryson Casto commits to West Virginia baseball

West Virginia has added another in-state player to its 2027 baseball recruiting class with the commitment of Ripley High School product Bryson Casto.
Casto, a 6-foot, 170-pound shortstop, right-handed pitcher and utility player from Evans, W.Va., announced his pledge to the Mountaineers. He becomes the latest in-state talent to join the program, continuing the staff’s efforts to keep top West Virginia players home.
Casto has been a standout on the showcase circuit, flashing two-way ability. On the mound, he has topped out at 86 mph with a fastball that sits in the low 80s, while also mixing in a curveball, changeup and slurve. Perfect Game notes he has added 15 mph to his velocity since 2021, a sign of his steady development. He ranked in the 96th percentile nationally for fastball velocity in the 2027 class.
At the plate, Casto has shown pop and consistency, collecting multiple multi-hit games this summer. He was a key contributor for the Hit Dogs Ohio 16U travel team and has played in numerous high-level events, including the PBR Mid-Ohio Summer Championship and the Great Lakes Program Invite.
With Casto on board, West Virginia continues to strengthen its pipeline of in-state talent, and he’ll look to bring both his versatility and steady improvement to Morgantown when he arrives.
