West Virginia baseball lands commitment from 2027 catcher Jack Spielmann

West Virginia added another piece to its future baseball roster with the commitment of 2027 catcher Jack Spielmann of Milton, Wisconsin.
Spielmann, who plays travel ball with the Hitters, is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect with tools that stand out both at the plate and behind it. He has posted a pop time of 1.97–2.01 seconds and a catcher velocity of 80 mph, showing strong defensive ability behind the dish. He also has an outfield arm measured at 78 mph.
Offensively, Spielmann brings plenty of upside. His metrics include a max exit velocity of 99.3 mph, an average exit velocity of 93.5 mph, and a max distance of 362 feet. He has registered a hard-hit percentage of 91 and consistently finds the barrel with an 89 percent sweet spot rate.
On the mound, he’s touched 84 mph with his fastball, sitting 82–84 with a spin rate of 1,874 rpm. He also mixes in a changeup, curveball, and slider, all of which help showcase his versatility as an all-around player.
Spielmann earned a Perfect Game grade of 8.5, projecting him as a high-level college prospect with potential to draw professional interest.
He becomes the latest addition for West Virginia as the Mountaineers continue to build their future classes.
