West Virginia flips in-state TE Xavier Anderson

West Virginia has added another commitment to the 2026 class from inside the state’s borders with a pledge from Martinsburg (W.Va.) Spring Mills tight end Xavier Anderson.

Anderson, 6-foot-6, 185-pounds, had been committed to Cincinnati since June 7 but the Mountaineers never gave up in their pursuit of the talented in-state prospect. He took multiple visits to campus and there were ties to the program with his brother freshman quarterback Max Anderson on the roster.

The Rivals three-star prospect was recruited by tight ends coach Michael Nysewander as well as senior offensive assistant Travis Trickett and the pair were key in his recruitment.

Anderson received the offer from the Mountaineers in April and at the time it was a big deal in his recruitment given those ties and his interest in the program.

“Earning the offer from WVU felt amazing,” he said at the time.

Along with West Virginia, Anderson also held offers from Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Liberty, Appalachian State and more. He also is a standout on the hardwood in high school.

Anderson becomes the third end commitment in the 2026 class behind Cincinnati (Oh.) Archbishop Moeller tight end Sam Hamilton and Chanhassen (Mn.) tight end Kade Bush

WVSports.com will have more with Anderson in the near future.
