West Virginia lands top OL target Jonas Muya

West Virginia has landed a massive commitment with a pledge from La Porte (In.) Bishop Luers 2026 offensive lineman Jonas Muya.

Muya, 6-foot-7, 280-pounds, picked the Mountaineers over offers from Oklahoma, Tennessee, Minnesota, Purdue, Cincinnati and a number of others.

Both Oklahoma and Tennessee made aggressive pushes for the talented offensive tackle who is rated as an 89 three-star recruit by Rivals and 36th best at his position nationally.

West Virginia jumped into his recruitment Sept. 27 after he took an unofficial visit for the Utah game and things built from there between him and the coaching staff.

The Rivals three-star prospect took an official visit over the Nov. 21 weekend and the Mountaineers surged to the forefront of his recruitment. Offensive line coach Jack Bicknell served as the lead recruiter for West Virginia and developed a strong bond with him.

“The main message from the coaches was that they believe in my upside and think I can grow a lot in their system. They showed me exactly how they would use me and how my skill set matches what they want,” Muya said.

Muya was originally a basketball player but made the transition to football and attracted a number of high level scholarship offers.

Muya is slated to play offensive tackle for the Mountaineers and joins a highly impressive offensive line class in the 2026 recruiting cycle with six other commitments.

WVSports.com will have more with Muya in the near future.
