West Virginia signs JUCO DL Jaylen Thomas
West Virginia has landed another massive addition on the defensive front with a signature from Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi C.C. defensive lineman Jaylen Thomas.
Thomas, 6-foot-2, 313-pounds, selected the Mountaineers over scholarship offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas, Baylor, Syracuse, Iowa State, Kansas State, Vanderbilt and a host of others.
The news was released by the school.
Defensive line coach William Green extended a scholarship offer to Thomas in September and the Mountaineers were a constant presence in his recruitment.
The Rivals three-star prospect took an official visit to Morgantown Nov. 21-23 and was impressed with the experience which put the Mountaineers high on his list.
Thomas appeared in 16 games during his two seasons at Northwest where he recorded 25 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. He was named MACCC North Division Defensive Player of the Year this past season with 18 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.
The Memphis native has two years of eligibility remaining in his career.
WVSports.com will have more with Thomas in the near future.
