West Virginia's Nicco Marchiol named to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

West Virginia quarterback Nicco Marchiol has been named to the 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, an honor that recognizes college football’s top student-athletes for their commitment to community service and leadership off the field.
The Wuerffel Trophy, named for former Heisman-winning Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel, is considered the premier award in college football for community impact and character, placing a strong emphasis on service and leadership over athletic performance alone.
Marchiol has played in 20 career games with three starts, throwing for 742 yards and eight touchdowns while also adding value in the run game. He led the Mountaineers to a 2-0 record as a starter last season, including an efficient performance at Arizona where he completed 18-of-22 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Off the field, Marchiol has been recognized on the Big 12 Commissioner’s and Garrett Ford Academic Honor Rolls and is majoring in sport management.
He is one of more than 100 FBS players under consideration for the 2024 award.
