What's left to piece non-conference schedule together for West Virginia hoops?

The West Virginia 2025-26 basketball schedule is moving closer to completion.

The Mountaineers have had their conference slate of opponents for quite some time, with the league releasing the 18-game slate.

West Virginia will have home games this coming season against Baylor, BYU, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech, and Utah. The Mountaineers will have road games at Arizona, Arizona State, Houston, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and TCU. And finally, the program will play UCF, Cincinnati and Kansas State twice by hosting those teams and then traveling to their locations.

As for the non-conference portion, the program has made some progress in filling it out but it isn’t yet complete. The Mountaineers have some marquee opportunities such as the Charleston Classic against two of either Xavier, Clemson and Georgia from Nov. 21-23.

West Virginia also will have a pair of neutral-site contests with the first in Charleston (W.Va.) against Wake Forest Dec. 6 and the second in Cleveland against Ohio State Dec. 13.

The Mountaineers also are set to take on rival Pittsburgh on Nov. 13, giving the non-conference some difficult games that will challenge the roster.

As for the remaining reported games, those include home contests against Campbell (Nov. 6), Lehigh (Nov. 9), Mercyhurst (Nov. 30) and Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 22).

Now, only a handful of these have been officially announced to date, but all indications are that this will indeed be the schedule for the program.

That leaves four remaining games in order to fill out the 31-game schedule. Head coach Ross Hodge hinted earlier this off-season that the program was looking into some more challenging options on the schedule but that was before the announcements of the neutral site games.

It’s likely that some of these additions will be home contests against low major opponents but there is a possibility that there’s another marquee game on the slate.
