West Virginia baseball has added another high-upside bat to its 2027 class with the commitment of Daniel Padilla, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound outfielder and first baseman from Ocoee, Florida.

Padilla, who plays for TNXL Academy and the Florida Canes travel program, has made a name for himself as one of the top power hitters in his class. He’s posted exit velocities up to 105 mph and an average near 100 mph at national events, showing the kind of raw strength that translates to the next level. His ability to drive the ball deep has also been on display, with batted-ball distances surpassing 400 feet.

Beyond the power, Padilla runs a 6.67 60-yard dash, rare speed for a player of his size, and shows strong defensive versatility with an 86 mph outfield arm and solid glove work at first base. Prep Baseball Report and Perfect Game both list him among the risers in Florida’s 2027 class.

Perfect Game has given Padilla a 9.5 rating on its Player Rating System, placing him in the range of a potential top 10 round draft pick and one of the highest-level college prospects in the country.

For WVU, Padilla adds another physical presence to the lineup and joins an already talented group of 2027 commitments. His combination of size, athleticism, and power potential gives the Mountaineers a cornerstone prospect to build around in the coming years.
