Former CUSA Player of the Year Desirae Spearman transfer to Texas Tech

Former Conference USA Player of the Year Desirae Spearman will spend her next two seasons at Texas Tech, she announced on Wednesday. She’ll join the Texas Tech transfer class that already has added Jazzy Burns, Kaitlyn Terry, Mia Williams, Jackie Lis and Taylor Pannell.
Spearman starred as a freshman in 2024, winning Conference USA Freshman and Player of the Year awards. The El Paso native has a career 19-12 record with a 3.38 ERA in 199 innings. Her bat might warrant more attention. She was one of 30 players this season to hit 20 home runs. Spearman set career-highs in average (.430), doubles (10), RBI (47) and walks (55). She also played at shortstop and center field.
She paced the Aggies with eight complete games, a 3.54 ERA, 118 strikeouts and a .221 opponent batting average. She was the only player in the conference to lead her team in both batting average at the plate and ERA. For the regular season, Spearman (112) was one of five CUSA pitchers with more than 100 strikeouts and finished fourth in opponent batting average.
