Georgia adds 2027 four-star recruits Morgan Maxwell and Ava West

Georgia has hosted a number of talented players from the 2027 class, despite having relatively few commitments. However, the Bulldogs’ latest additions will help them in both aspects of the game. Four-star two-way and Softball America’s 16th overall player, Morgan Maxwell, announced her verbal commitment to Georgia. As well as four-star catcher Ava West from the Fury Platinum organization.
Maxwell is one of the elite left-handed arms in the class who has tight spin, can change speeds and hit spots throughout the zone. As a hitter, she brings a strong two-way option to the plate with the opportunity to contribute on both sides of the ball.
“I selected the University of Georgia for its vibrant academic and athletic culture, believing it to be the perfect setting to pursue her healthcare career aspirations while thriving on the softball field in the prestigious SEC,” Maxwell said.
West is a powerful catcher with an elite arm and framing skills. She is a field General, and can be a steady force behind the dish. She has the ability to crush the ball in multiple parts of the zone as she has the ability to adjust pitch to pitch with deep ball power.

“I’m inspired by both the athletic and academic programs at Georgia, and I deeply respect the team culture Coach Tony has created,” West said. “Playing in the SEC and playing for a national championship has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. UGA Softball has a high standard and knows how to compete. I’m extremely grateful to wear the red and black!”
Maxwell, the Georgia Impact Premier O’Neil product from North Carolina, chose Georgia after strong interest from Tennessee, Duke, Texas Tech, and NC State. West, who hails from Louisiana, had also visited Missouri, Duke and Notre Dame.
