Jazzy Francik no hits No. 18 VT, No. 5 FSU claims series
Florida State has used Jazzy Francik in a closer role for much of the season. She opened, she closed, she did it all against No. 18 Virginia Tech on Saturday. The freshman tossed a six-inning no-hitter as No. 5 Florida State earned an 8-0 run-rule win, securing the ACC series.
Francik only allowed three baserunners via three walks. She struck out three while inducing nine fly outs and six groundouts.
It was easy to ask why Emma Lemley didn’t get the ball in the series opener, but Florida State had a clear plan against the Virginia Tech ace. The Seminoles collected 10 hits, four players, including Angelee Bueno, had multi-hit games.
After a first-inning sacrifice fly, Katie Dack started her big day. She hit a solo shot to double the lead. Dack had an opposite-field RBI double later in the game against Lemley. Hallie Wacaser, who was held hitless on Friday, also hit a solo home run in the second.
