Jordy Bahl hit the first pitch of the game and never looked back. Nebraska controlled the first game of the Knoxville Super Regional from start to finish, beating Tennessee 5-2 on Friday.

Bahl singled through the left side to open the game against Karlyn Pickens. The all-around star proceeded to steal second and scored on a two-out single from Olivia DiNardo. She set the table for the Nebraska offense in the third as well. Bahl worked a four-pitch walk before scoring all the way from first base on a double from Samantha Bland that went to the wall.

Hannah Camenzind hit her 10th home run of the season, only the sixth that Pickens has given up in 2025. Pickens gave up two free passes, allowing Bahl to come back to the plate. Pickens got her to pop up, but Saviya Morgan and Laura Mealer didn’t communicate as Morgan charged behind Mealer and Morgan didn’t catch the ball, leading to a two-run error. Pickens exited after the error, she only threw 63 pitches. Sage Mardjetko threw 3.1 hitless innings.

Bahl was pretty efficient in the circle as well. She allowed a solo to Sophia Nugent in the second but felt very little pressure outside of that. Tennessee scored a run in the fifth after two singles and a wild pitch. However, Bahl limited the damage to one run, making the error even more costly.

She ended the game allowing two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.

Nebraska will try to clinch its first Women’s College World Series since 2013 with Game Two starting at 7 p.m. ET.
