No. 2 overall recruit Goose Hutchens starts Oklahoma's 2027 class
When Patty Gasso sends out the ‘Go Boomer, ‘ good things are coming to Norman. Goose Hutchens, the second-overall recruit in the 2027 Softball America rankings, committed to her hometown Sooners on Thursday.
Hutchens, who hails from Wagoner, Oklahoma, primarily plays catcher and third base as she has become a star for Iowa Premier 18U National-Dickel team. She is one of the flat-out purest hitters in the country. Her consistent bat to ball skills combined with power to all fields sets her apart from others. She has an incredible approach to each at bat, can make adjustments pitch to pitch, and can play multiple positions on defense. With an elite arm behind the dish, she is tough to run on with any success. Hutchens is one of the most well-rounded players in the class and has the ability to make an immediate impact in the middle of the lineup.
